Who Is Copernicus – and What Does He Have to do with Field Service?

A Forbes article a while back described “The Copernican Revolution in Management,” which refers to philosopher Copernicus who, in 1543, figured out that the sun wasn’t rotating around the earth, but rather that the earth revolved around the sun. Applied in the business world generally and in field service operations specifically, adopting a customer-centric philosophy means you need to figure out what customers want and how they want it delivered, and then deliver it.

Many businesses – from coffee shops and car dealerships to utility providers and software companies – are already joining the Copernican Revolution and putting customers in the center of their universe. But others are spending vast sums on strategic planning, marketing and process-improvement exercises – with consideration of what the customer wants far down on their list of priorities. Is your company putting customers first? Read more ...

Agility in Field Service Management is a Big Priority

We’ve long predicted it and now the 2017 Field Service Benchmark Survey confirms it:

  1. Seven out of ten survey respondents (72%) said they are currently using or plan to use a cloud-based field service platform to improve agility and prepare for the future.
  2. Nearly six in ten (59%) said they’ve adopted a mobile-first strategy.
  3. Seven in ten of those with a mobile-first strategy said there’s room for improvement in their solution.

The 2017 Field Service Benchmark Survey also discovered that big “disruptors” -- or you might consider them opportunities if you’re a forward-thinking, glass-half-full kind of person -- will be IoT (Internet of Things), augmented reality, and wearable technology.

Download your own copy of the report! Reviewing it and comparing the findings to your own operation will be a good end-of-year exercise. Simply click here and fill out a short form.
Note: At the Field Service conference in April this year, Worldwide Business Research conducted an on-site survey of service industry leaders, findings from which are summarized in the benchmark report.
